The latter, slow to settle into her best stride, dosed fast through the final eighth and was wearing down" the winner at the end. FREESTONE had speed from the start, disposed of STARANAPALE, took command entering the stretch, then tired. DONNAGAY .dropped back entering the j stretch, but made tip ground thereafter. DOER, much the best, raced FAINE and ELISE S. into defeat and drew out in the, final eighth to win easily. FAINE had speed from the beginning, set nearly all the pace, closed well, but was no match for the winner. TOUT FEU, away fast, dropped out of it in the early stages, but closed with- a rush through the stretch. ELISE S., well placed throughout, quit in the final eighth. CASTIE and BIG DOLLAR were outrun. REDWICK,-away slowly, closed a big gap in the last quarter mile. KNIGHTS BACHELOR, another to suffer at the start, closed a big gap. BLONDE VENUS went evenly.
