REVIVAL OF OMAHA .RACING Picturesque Ak-Sar-Ben Track to Open Today After Being Closed for Six Years. OMAHA, Neb., May 29. After a lapse of six years, horse racing returns to Nebraska Thursday afternoon at Ak-Sar-Ben, and indications point to an extremely successful reign of King Horse in this territory. Seven well-filled races, headed by the .Hotel Greeters Handicap, a. six furlongs sprint, is the inaugural offering. Fourteen candidates for the ,000 handicap were named in the overnight entries, with at least twelve of that number regarded as certain starters by secretary Bury. Bury was successful in arranging a diversified program for the opening day, despite the fact that track conditions of the past week have proved somewhat of a hindrance. Little hope was held for a fast track Thursday, though it appeared as if a break in the weather would materialize. The racing strip was good, but will hardly dry sufficiently to reach a fast stage if rain holds off until post time for the first race. The picturesquely situated Ak-Sar-Ben course has been put into first class shape, and the enthusiasm runs high among the natives of Omaha, who are expected to turn out in large numbers to welcome the return j of racing to this section.
