NELLIE FLAG IN CLASSIC ! Latest to Be Named for Valuable ; Fixture Entries for Arlington Stakes Close Saturday, Nellie Flag, which satisfied owner Warren Wright and trainer Bert Williams that fillies, no matter how good they may be, are at a distinct disadvantage racing against the best colts in the spring of the year, is the latest three-year-old to be nominated for the Classic, the 0,000 added fixture of the Arlington Park Jockey Club, which will be closed for entries on Saturday along with the Arlington Handicap, Stars and Stripes Handicap and Hyde Park Stakes. At the present time Nellie Flag, champion two-year-old filly of last season, is taking things easy, but her owner and trainer are confident she will return to her best form by July 20, when the Classic will be renewed at the beautiful north side course. They have lost none of their faith in the ability of the daughter of American Flag and Nellie Morse, which last year took renewals of the Matron Stakes, Selima Stakes and the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes. With the closing date for the Arlington stakes just three days away, nominations are mounting rapidly, and there is every indication that every outstanding horse in the country will be eligible to run in one or more of the rich specials to be renewed during the thirty-day meeting. The gross value of these events is expected to surpass 50,000.
