CUDGELDOE assumed command when entering the back stretch, was well rated for the balance of the race and, saving ground, held GRANITE ROCK safe. GRANITE ROCK was blocked when attempting to go through on the inside on the back stretch, was forced back to get to the outside, then closed well in the drive when clear. WM. TRAJECTORY had good early speed, was given a respite on the turn and closed stoutly. TOE DANCE flashed early speed and hung on well. RELATIVITY raced evenly, but could not improve her position. BIG FISH had speed to take command at the half-mile post, drew out steadily thereafter and was never in danger. COLORED ARTIST, rated behind the early pace, secured racing room on the inside and closed well. ROCKROMA, slow to find his best speed, moved up very fast through the stretch. IMADUD raced evenly in the first flight, but was tiring at the end. PEWTER CREST, sluggish in the early racing, closed-some ground. ROMOLA did not appear to fancy the going. BLUE DAMSEL, slow to find her best speed, gradually bettered her position, found racing room on the inside entering the stretch and outgamed BLACK STOCKINGS in the drive. The latter, within striking distance of the leaders from the beginning, closed stoutly and just failed to get up. GEORGE DE MAR, slow to find his best speed, moved up strongly when leaving the back stretch, was given a short respite and closed well. YELLOW METAL, slow in the early stages as usual, saved ground on the rail and finished stoutly. TROUBANOVA gained a short lead on the final turn, but quit badly. BUD ROYAL, close up from the start and saving ground on the turns, moved to the front in the stretch, but could not withstand the challenge of the winner MAEBEE lacked early speed, rrioved up strongly in the stretch and finished fast. UNION lacked early speed, but closed fast. BORDER KNIGHT raced evenly, but could not improve his position. PROMETHEUS was practically left at the post. Scratched 04315 Dorothy Alice, 111.
