AZUCAR STARTS AT DETROIT Santa Anita Handicap Winner Is Entered for Todays Col. Alger Memorial Handicap. DETROIT, Mich., May 29. Azucar, winner of the rich .added Santa Anita Handicap returns to competition tomorrow in the ,-000 added Col. Alger Memorial Handicap that features the holiday program arranged by the Detroit Racing Association at its Fair Grounds course. . The reformed jumper will not be striving for such a rich purse and, will not be facirig such a crack field as he. did his last and most important triumph, but the imported son of Milesius will be, attempting to honor a family whose silks he will be carying. The mile and a sixteenth journey is named for the late Col. Alger whose son Fred Jr., owns the sevenryear-old and is also vice-president of the Detroit Racing Association. It probably will be Azucars laststart. before the running of the Detroit Challenge Cup, which is expected to attract Cavalcade, Omaha, Discovery, Head Play and other turf stars. George- Woolf, who directed his Santa Anita success will be here to handle him. Supporting the feature which will serve as the fifth number of an eight race program, is the Decoration Day Handicap. It is a graded "C" handicap at one mile and attracted seven of the best from this grade. The field for the feature in order of post positions, weights and probable jockeys follow: PP. Horse.
