HOME GEORGE forced the early pace, raced LANQUO into defeat, quickly drew out into a long leaj in the stretch, but was tiring at the end and had to be ridden out to hold INDEPENDENT WAY sale. The latter, far back early, lost much ground while moving up, came to the outside in the stretch and was wearing the winner down. DIZZY B. lacked early speed, saved ground n the final quarter and closed well. LANQUO broke fast, showed early speed, but tired in the closing eighth. MADDOX quit badly in the final eighth. CHESTNUT BABY broke fast from outside the stalls, raced in closest pursuit of the early pace, took command when WITCHNEW tired and, drawing away, held SCHOLAR GIRL safe. The latter, well placed in the early running, closed gamely in the stretch, but could not get to the winner. MIANNE lacked early speed, worked her way up between horses and finished gamely. JEFFS PRIDE raced evenly all the way and had no excuses. WITCHNEW showed early speed. COLOR MISS broke slowly and was eased up shortly after the start. Scratched 27758 Alma Mac, 109. WITTORA, well placed in the early running, saved eround on the inside all the way, but tired in the closing sixteenth. MY ROSANNE was going gamely at the end. MISS CRACKER tired badly.
