GOOD DAME, quickest to begin, drew clear in the first sixteenth, was steadied along under slight restraint, was placed under punishment nearing the stretch and held sway-to the end. BEDIGHT, in closest attendance of the leader from the start, continued with good energy to the end. PROTEUS, unruly at the post, was taken to the outside and raced prominently placed the entire trip, but was unable to threaten the first two. HIGH FINANCE was well up from the start, but was unable to make up any ground when placed under pressure. CLEAN SPORT saved ground at the stretch, but was never in a position to reach the leaders. DONALD DUCK, away alertly, had speed all the way, disposed of ASKARIS for the lead and in a duel with ROYAL SHOOT that lasted the entire length of the stretch, outlasted the latter at the end. ROYAL SHOOT, restrained early, moved up steadily, gained the lead in the stretch, but was unable to maintain her advantage under punishment. ASKARIS was well placed the entire trip, but was unable to keep pace with the first two in the drive. CHERRY CAN was well up all the way and, closing on the outside, was up in the closing stride to draw on even terms with ASKARIS. ROYAL BROOM was prominent for the first half mile and was unable to keep up in the last quarter mile. BERGERE was taken up at trie start colliding with AL CARLYS and closed a big gap. SANCTITY, outpaced for the first three-eighths, moved up stoutly nearing the stretch, but was unable to reach the leaders when placed under punishment. COUNT DEAN was unable to enter into serious contention. PENRILL was never prominent. SANDY BEACH had the most early speed, set the pace under a choking pull and quit badly when called upon. FIRST BID, bumped at the tsart, was unable to reach the leaders . REAL JlM had good speed in pacemaking, but faltered in the last three-sixteenths. LONE HAND was unable to. make up any ground. LONGFUL, away well, dropped back when reaching the back stretch, began moving up in the last five-sixteenths and, closing with a rush, was along in the concluding strides to wear down FOREIGN LEGION. FOREIGN LEGION had speed from the start, shook off SILVERY WAY, drew out to meet determined opposi-tion from CRITICISE and, despite holding on gamely, just failed to last. CRITICISE moved up with a rush nearing the stretch, made a bold attempt to reach the leader, but was not good enough, though continuing willingly to the close. THISWAY trailed early, but closed an immense gap. LAPLAND made up some ground. SILVERY WAY quit after going three-quarters. RIGHT RANK could never endanger the leaders. BRAMBLE RUN lost ground around the first turn after breaking slowly, moved up fast rounding the far turn, gained a slight lead in the stretch and, holding on stubbornly through the stretch, outlasted YENOOR at the end. YENOOR was prominently placed the entire. trip, wore down CUSTER for the lead and, though holding on stubbornly, was not good enough in the closing test. CUSTER had speed from the start, but tired in the last quarter mile. THE TRIUMVIR made up some ground. JIM MOSS was never a factor.
