MAEDIC JAMAICA ATTRACTION Maemere Farms Star Two-Year-Old Named for Remsen Handicap. Dogaway and Optic His Most Dangerous Opponents Belgrade Claiming Stakes Supporting Feature. NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct. 9. For the -irst Saturday of the Jamaica meeting of the Metropolitan Jockey Club, the card offered is the best thus far, the feature being the Remsen Handicap, a six furlongs dash that has an even dozen acceptances. This is a prize of ,500 added and, with all of these going to the post, it will reach a value of ,260. The list is naturally topped by Maedic, the son of Bostonian that carried the silks of the Maemere Farm Stable to victory in five stakes during the August season, winding up with the rich Hopeful, in which he took the measure of several that later had a try at the Futurity, for which he was not eligible. The son of Bostonian is asked to take up 126 pounds and was returned from Maryland for this running. Dogaway, from Mrs. Ethel V. Wars Milky Way Stable, comes second in the weights, under 119, and third place is accorded Joseph E. Wideners good colt Optic, with 118 pounds as his burden. This fellow did not race up to expectations in the Futurity, but coming up to that prize his form was brilliant. In the Remsen he will have the fast filly Magic Circle for a running mate, and he may readily redeem his Futurity showing. Another coupling for the running is that of Wheatley Stables Melodist and William Woodwards Riparian, a pair that have been carefully groomed for the prize by James Fitzsimmons. Benjamin Lissbergers swift filly Juliet W. seems to have earned the 116 pounds with which she is burdened, and the Greentree Stable will depend on Ell Yale, a winner at Belmont Park. Clodion, Night Bud and Rainland complete the promised field, and each has worked well for the test Then there Is the Belgrade Claiming Stakes, a companion feature of the Remsen Handicap, it is also at six furlongs and, with the eleven promised starters going to the post, its value will be ,590. In this George Odom promises to send out a pair in the temperamental Quel Jeu, which races for the Arden Farms Stable, and Robert L. Gerrys Chancer. William Ziegler, Jr.s Wha Hae, now at his best, will carry the top weight of 116 pound3. Hal Price Headleys Fraidy Cat comes sec-; ond, with 111 pounds, and his trials pronounce I him truly dangerous in the field. Hirsch Jacobs will saddle Jesting for Mrs. Jacobs, and other fast ones in the company that will attract attention are Polycletus, Highpool, Billie Bane, Marcabala and Abner.
