PALATINE BELLE, lucky to get through on the inside of COUNTESS REIGH in the first quarter, raced into clear command under energetic riding on the turn, increased her advantage in the stretch, but tired in the final eighth and won under strong pressure. COUNTESS REIGH, away fast and raced wide early, swerved to the inside in the stretch and was slowly getting to the winner as she secured room next to the rail while holding on well. ESWOOD raced wide and closed resolutely in her eood effort. TRIP came up on the inside in the stretch. ROQUILL lost ground. GOLDSPUN was held safe throughout. ANNIE BANE showed only a flash of speed. MONKS GOLD, fractious at the post and placed on the outside for the start, began slowly, was rushed to the leaders with a big loss of ground, opened up a wide margin in the stretch, then tired and was under strong urging in the final sixteenth. ROYAL CHARM, away fast and receiving a hustling ride, held on well and slowly gained on the winner after five-eighths. PETER J. PEEL, away slowly, gradually improved his position and secured room on the inside in the stretch. MISS FLICKER was under pressure after three-eighths, tired in the stretch and swerved out badly near the end. MISS RITZ, away fast but unable to hold the advantage, was repeatedly shaken up, but did not rally. STOLEN COLOR quit. EXONERATE bore out badly on the turn. ROYAL BIRD, well up from the start, raced wide in the final three-eighths. RED ROGUE lacked its usual speed and was never a strong factor. EXCHANGE CLUB had no mishaps. INFLAME, at home in the going and having fine speed from the start, easily drew away from REGARDS alter reaching the turn and, continuing well, held sway to the end. REGARDS, also quick to begin and taken hack slightly as the winner raced to the front on the far turn, was under vigorous riding the final three-eighths and held on well. TREVALLION, on the inside for five-eighths, swerved out badly on the stretch turn and raced evenly while racing wide thereafter. POMPARAGON could not threaten. CANTERON had no excuses. MASKETIER, placed on the outside at the start, dropped back fast on the stretch turn. SUSAN HAY had the most speed from the start, was well rated and held on courageously, but could not hold the winner. STROPHE, away slowly and badly outrun for three-quarters, came with a rush on the extreme outside in the stretch and was strongest at the end. PEGGYS PEGGY, a contender from the start, failed to rally to urging in the last three-eighths and tired in the closing stages. SLIP KNOT, a factor from the start, tired after reaching the last three-sixteenths. ADELAIDE A., away slowly, lost ground throughout. QUINCY, badly outrun for a half mile and swung to the extreme outside entering the stretch, came with fine belated speed and with keen determination when straightened up and headed ALICE G. in the closing strides. The latter, under stout restraint for a half mile, responded well when called upon and held on stubbornly after wearing down CALCULATOR and VALDINA, but was not quite good enough. The latter, away slowly and much used in the opening quarter, rallied only mildly after reaching the stretch and tired badly in the final eighth. CALCULATOR showed the most speed under hustling tactics and also gave way sharply in the last eighth. CAVOUR had no mishaps. ONE NIGHT, away very slowly, lacked speed and was far back throughout. BURNT TRAIL, slow to begin and taken under restraint after three-eighths, rallied to pressure and, coming to the outside for the drive, was up in the final stride. REGISTERITE, under steady restraint for three quarters, raced gamely when under strong riding, suffered light interference in the final eighth and, after getting to the front, failed to hold the winner. NIGHT FLOWER took command easily, was rated under reserve for three quarters and fought it out stubbornly in the drive. DIANE S., under hustling tactics from the start, raced wide the final halt mile then gave way slowly after reaching the stretch. JOAN MACAW, pinched back on the first turn, worked her way up on the inside, had to be eased when in close quarters on the second turn, moved up slightly in the stretch, but tired in the final eighth.
