JUVENILES MEET IN FEATURE Ten Named in Handicap Event at Epsom Downs Course. My Tonimie and Trina Equal Top Weights Under 113 Pounds Former to Seek Ninth Victory of Year. HOUSTON, Texas, Oct 9. Two-year-olds will hold the spotlight at Epsom Downs Saturday afternoon when the youngsters meet in the renewal of the Juvenile Handicap, a six furlongs sprint, which occupies the fifth and featured portion on the best balanced eight-race program of the current meeting at the Houston track. Texas representation is strong in this event, with eight of the ten named in the overnight entries being the property of natives of the Lone Star State. The entry of Nellie Mc and Girls Chance, the latter a recent winner at the Texas Breeders and Racing Associations course, form the only non-Texas runners regarded as probable starters in the event. Eleven were named at the time of the closing of the nominations, but M. T. Coxs Whiscenda did not accept the weights assigned by handicapper Brown for the dash which brings together the best juveniles stabled here at present My Tommie and Trina share the honor of having been allotted the top impost, each being slated to tote 113 pounds for the three-quarters affair and in this pair lies the likely favorite for the race. My Tommie, which races for R. B. Georges Hilltop Farm Stable, has proved one of the most consistent performers in the two-year-old division, winning eight of his fourteen starts and finishing second and third on two other occasions. STERNER OrrOSITION. However, in seeking his ninth triumph of the year, the colt is facing sterner opposition than he has been called on to oppose thus far, indicating that he is due for a full test of his ability. It is the general opinion of turfmen that D. J. Sullivan III.s Trina is capable of displaying a much better effort than was the case recently, when she made her first start of the meeting. Any improvement over that recent performance makes the San Antonio sportsmans colorbearer a strong contender for the major honors. The remainder of the field consists of Princess Stone, Quindaro, Nellie Mc, East- ;port, Girls Chance, Lady Tichner, Royal Countess and Albert Beck, quite a formid- I able array of. juvenile talent Supporting the main attraction is the Daily Racing Form Claiming Purse, a six furlongs dash designed to bring together a good grade of sprinters of the selling division. It is the sixth race on the card. Six fleet runners are destined to battle it out for the main portion of the purse, with D. Sullivan III.s recent winner, Takus, holding a slight edge over "Butsey" Her- inandez Indiantown, with Stop Scout, High Hand II., Back Log and Veronica C. the I other scheduled starters. o
