ACCOLADE MEETS ACID TEST To Carry 125 Pounds in White Mountain Handicap at Rockingham. Christmas Colorbearer Seeks, Second Stake Victory In Three Days Fourteen Named in Overnight Entries. SALEM, N. H Oct. 9. A top-heavy field of milers is slated to go to the post in the ,500 added White Mountain Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, which is the main attraction at Rockingham Park tomorrow. No less than fourteen horses have been named overnight, and unless track conditions change, it is likely that the majority of them will face the issue. Donley Christmas Accolade will be seeking his second stake victory in three days in the Handicap. On Wednesday he triumphed over a crack field of sprinters in the six furlongs Col. A. J. Pierce Speed Handicap, and that effort was an excellent speed sharpener for tomorrows longer test. The Bright Knight gelding faces a tough task, however, for he has top weight of 125 pounds in the saddle and is conceding from seven to thirty-three pounds to all rivals. S. Deutchs Sun Archer, which formerly raced under the jacket of Willis Sharpe Kilmer, has come on from New York for this feature. He is next in esteem in Jim Monroes weight assignments with 118 pounds. He is reported to be in good form as his workouts amply testify. He may prove hard to down if he shows a liking for the deep footing here. Weston Adams Gallant Gay, best three-year-old owned by a New Englander, is in the event under 113 pounds. He was second to Howard in his last outing, and appears to be rapidly approaching his best condition. The mile distance is to his liking, and he has always shown a fancy for the Rockingham racing strip, where he scored his most notable victory, beating a formidable field in the New Hampshire Handicap last spring. Don Guzman, a greatly, improved campaigner and another horse which fancies this this track, will come in for plenty of support He has been assigned 115 pounds in tho event Woods Garth has done wonders with this fellow since purchasing him during the season at Narragansctt The stretch-running Tugboat Frank, which races for Mrs. L. H. Ward, wiHbe catching a lot of horses in the final eighth, and under his parcel of 105, may take it all. Mrs. W. R. Flemmings recent acquisition, Furfiber, is named for the race, but may not be sent back after yesterdays effort, in which he finished second to Up and Up. The once classy Beefsteak is slated to carry the banner of Mrs. L. H. Nimkoff. The bad post actor, Mountainy Man, is in the race under 113 pounds. The Mulvihill campaigner showed excellent form at Nar-ragansett, where he was a stake winner. The more lightly regarded members of the field are Boston Brook, Bubblesome, Water-splash, Sandy Boot, Chancing, and Fickle Chance. The latter turned in a poor race behind Up and Up on Wednesday, and may not go. With the exception of Wednesday, when light rain fell, warm, Indian summer weather has prevailed all week in sharp contrast to the wintry chill of the first six days of the season. The Weather Bureau predicts that the warm spell will continue. If it does, Saturdays sport should draw the largest throng of the meeting to date.
