DEVONSHIRE RACE TRACK j SOLD FOR MERE 2,000 L WINDSOR, Ont, April 13, Devonshire race track here has been sold to Simon Me-retsky, of Windsor, it was announced today. Neither the purchaser nor George Yates, solicitor for the vendors, would reveal the price involved, but it was authoritatively reported to be 2,000 a fraction of the original cost of the well-equipped racing plant. The property is composed of 130 acres, and the complete racing plant originally cost approximately 00,000. Fifteen years ago Bill Woollat, Windsor sportsman and business man, took over operation of the plant as general manager. To keep the track in operation he advanced money and to recover his money a supreme court suit "was necessary. Subsequently, the management went bankrupt. Then the track was reorganized by Detroit men Charles P. ONeil and C. A. Pfef-fer Woollatts judgment being paid off, and he continued as manager for the Detroiters. Last year a determined effort was made to run the track, but the meeting ran into exceptionally hot weather. Attendance was so meagre racing ended on the fourth day of the meeting.
