1 NEW YORK TURF NOTES I S : j Joe Healy, arrived from Miami and will remain for the Metropolitan season. He spent a brief vacation in Cuba after the close of Tropical Park. The Branncastie Stable arrived from winter quarters and is located at Belmont Park. The Maemere Stud, in charge of trainer George Phillips arrived from Hialeah Park and will await the Belmont Park meeting. Tony Pascuma who rode during the winter at the Fair Grounds, New Orleans, arrived from Bowie. He will ride as a free lance. J. Simon Healy has the Paramount Stable horses in his care at Aqueduct Healy took over this establishment recently. Pat Brady arrived at Aqueduct from Bowie with six that he will campaign at Jamaica. P. J. Malone was an arrival from Florida and will stay for the Metropolitan season. Geo. "Slim" Sully arrived at Aqueduct from Bowie with Ladys Beau which he will race for the Railroad Stable. Dave Withers has taken over the engagement book of Johnny Longden who is under contract to James Fitzsimmons. Jack Campbell arrived from Baltimore and visited Jamaica. He opened his office Tuesday. Marshall Cassidy, steward representing the State Racing Commission arrived from Bowie. John Goebel checked in from Ocean-Springs, Miss., where he wintered. George Odom, following his arrival from Miami, contracted laryngitis and is under the care of a physician. Trainer Sammy Smith reported that Mont Blanc, owned by G. H. Bostwick will arrive from Kentucky this week. Smith is sanguine that the four-year-old will stand training. T. J. Shaw arrived from Florida following a vacation and will be on the firing line at Jamaica on Thursday. Frank Shannon loaded down with Kentucky Derby quotations, arrived from Miami and reported that play was very light. Horsemen at Belmont Park expressed sincere sympathy over the death of Jim Evans, one of the veterans of racing, who died from a heart attack at Bowie on Saturday. Bill Clancy was an arrival from Florida and was an interested spectator at Belmont Fcirlc trials. White Tie and six two-year-olds were shipped to Churchill Downs by trainer Bren-nan for racing under the Greentree banner at Keeneland. Alvin Untermeyer was on hand to watch his two-year-olds which recently arrived from the farm breezing at slow paces over the training track. His stable is headed by Scintillator and Gurkha. Dave Withers reported that he has taken over the engagement book of jockey Longden, who is under contract to James Fitzsimmons. Jockey Eddie Arcaro, after reporting to trainer Bill Brennan, of the Greentree Stable, asked permission to. accept outside mounts at Jamaica. Algernon Daingerfield was a Jamaica visitor Tuesday and passed upon final applications for jockey and trainer licenses. Frank Stevens, of the catering firm, reported that everything is in readiness as far as his department is concerned for the opening. Jbckey R. Workman, according to advices from Lexington, will accept mounts at Jamaica for the first three days of the meeting. . . Trainer Dan Clarke notified jockey Harry Richards that Pompoori would be a starter in the Paumonok Handicap. R. A. "Bob" Smith motored to Jamaica yesterday from Belmont to inspect the new improvements. -Terry Farley, custodian of the jockeys check in arrivals. room, was on hand to Al Burlen, clerk of the scales, arrived and displayed to all his Florida tan. Patrol judge Davis arrived and reported for duty. He wintered in Florida.
