HARBORING DERBY WINNER? Predict Ultimate Victor Will Be Seen at Keeneland. Numerous Star Candidates Being Trained for Coming Season at Kentuckys Newest Track. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 13. There fa a strong belief among horsemen and turf fans hereabouts that the winner of the 1937: Kentucky Derby will be seen in action during the eleven-day spring meeting at Keeneland race course here, what with approximately one-third of the eligibles for the 0,000 added Churchill Downs race listed as probable starters during the Lexington races. Keeneland opens its eleven-day card Saturr day, April 17, and will close on Thursday, April 29. Several of the most highly regarded Kentucky Derby eligibles are being pointed for the ,000 added Blue Grass Stakes, which will be the highlight of the Lexington races. The Blue Grass Stakes, for three-year-olds, one and one-eighth miles, will be run on closing day at Keeneland, nine days prior to the running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. . Among the Derby candidates being trained to start in the race at Lexington is the pair owned by Col. E. R, Bradley. Brooklyn, believed to be the top three-year-old in the stable, Is thought by many to be a fifth Derby winner for Colonel Bradley, who already has won with Behave Yourself, Bubbling Over, Burgoo King and Brokers Tip. Brooklyns running mate in the Blue Grass Stakes and Derby is expected to be the fine colt, Eillionaire. TWO PROMINENT CANDIDATES. At least two of the three outstanding three-year-olds now training at Warren Wrights Calumet Farm here also are- expected to start at Keeneland. In all probability trainer Frank Kearns will race Galr sun and Gosum at Lexington. Trainer Thomas J. Healey Is getting C. V. Whitneys Flying Cross and Black Look, both Derby horses, ready to race in the Keeneland highlight. J. B. Respess, who won the Churchill Downs feature with Wintergreen in 1909 believes he has a real strong candidate in Main Man, which has been working for some time at Keeneland. J. W. Parrishs Dellor Is being conditioned at the Lexington track and will start here as a prep for his Derby engagement. Hal Price Headleys Old Nassau also Is being groomed for racing at Keeneland to determine his standing as a Derby prospect Former jockey Earl Sande has said there is a strong possibility that he will ship H. M. Howards Fencing, which he is training here, from . Louisville to run In the ,000 added: Keeneland race. Shandon Farms two Derby horses. Gold Flag and Burning Star, are far along In preparation for their Keeneland and Derby races. J. H. Skirvins Morristown is expected to be moved from Louisville to run In the Blue Grass Stakes, and H. C. Apple-gates Chigre is being pointed for a handicap race at the Keeneland oval. Greentree Stable has moved Us Tattered to Keeneland, and H. H. Cross has Teddy Green and The Runner, both Derby horses, at the Lexington trade
