HOLMES ON MISSIONARY TRIP FOR AGUA CALIENTE AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, April 13. Benjamin Holmes, racing secretary of the Agua Caliente Turf Club, left here today for Tan foran, where he will remain for a few days in the. interest of the meeting here which will be opened May 8. Before leaving Holmes made a critical inspection of the track and plant and is able to give horsemen first-hand information, that It is practically in readiness for the opening. "The addition of the S5.000 Labor Day Handicap makes our season all the more attractive," said Holmes. "The close proximity of Agua Caliente to the California tracks will result in many horsemen racing with us this summer. The first heavy influx of horses will come with the closing of Tanforan. Then the Caliente purses, no purse less than 500 and many of greater sums, will enable horsemen to do very well here for their expenses will be much less than if shipping tor more distant points and for shorter meetings,"
