REHEARSAL, starting quickly and moving clear in the opening eighth, responded to strong pressure when straightened into the stretch and outstayed BATTLE JACK. The latter saved , a lot of ground while, racing closest to the winner, was inclined to bear in toward .the inside in the stretch, but could not gain Hearing the end. LEGAL LIGHT went in the first flight all the way but could not threaten seriously. ACTRESS showed good speed and turned in a smart performance. DARK FLYER was carried very wide entering the stretch, only for which he would have been closer. ACUTE began slowly and finished gamely. LEGAL DANCE, was outrun. SAGE GIRL, away swiftly and showing good speed, took command at the turn out of the back stretch, withstood a long drive gamely and barely lasted long enough to stall off VIRNOCK. The latter bettered his position on the outside reached contention in the final three-sixteenths and finished stoutly under a hard drive. MASKED GAL rallied strongly midway of the final turn, drew to the pacemaker midway of the stretch, but tired right at the end. SYLVIA G. raced prominently and showed a good effort. TOP TAX could not better his position. EMVEE, away slowly, circled his field and closed fast. HIGH TORQUE was outrun. ADDIS ABABA tired after a half mile. TEDIOUS went into an easy lead going to the first turn, was steadied in front, saved ground, but tired after reaching the stretch when his rider began looking over his shoulder. BROWN TWIG, taken under steadying restraint after having a good position going to the first turn, reached the pacemaker without effort, took command at his leisure entering the stretch and had much in reserve at the end. SILENT SHOT saved ground while bettering his position, came to the outside in the final drive, closed gamely, but was no match for the winner. ARMY AND NAVY raced well, but could not threaten when the real test came. LEMONT showed good speed to set the pace, but quit utterly when caught. TOP HIGH was badly outrun and a trailer for most of the trip, but closed with a bold rush in the last sixteenth. JUSTA PLAY was well up in the early stages, made her run at the turn out of the back stretch, but tired in the final test. INFILEE made up ground slowly after being slow to settle in her stride. PENCADER could not engage the leaders at any stage. ZEMBLA could not enter contention at any time. FRED ALVA ran away three-eighths before the start, then raced well for three-quarters. ILCHESTER, sent up on the inside of CHIEF YEOMAN when reaching the back stretch, moved into a short lead at the turn out of the back stretch, rallied to severe pressure when reaching the stretch and outstayed MIDSHIPMAN. The latter, reserved off the pace, challenged stoutly in the last five-sixteenths and fought it out gamely to the end. CHIEF YEOMAN was steadied after being overhauled, but tired steadily. POMPOSITY was unable to menace. WARDELL ORMONT was held safe. WICKCLIFFE BOY was outrun. ITALIAN HARRY never was a factor. Overweight Italian Harry, li pounds.
