RITORNOS SECOND SCORE Bejshak Responsible for Success of Calcina Filly in Feature Race True Tune Second. AGAWAM, Mass., June 16. Ritorno, useful three-year-old filly in the Thomas Calcina stable, under a skilfull ride by jockey J. Bejshak turned the tables oh William V. Dwyers Lucky Jean and four other good three-year-olds and accounted for her second victory of the meeting when she took down premier honors in the five and one-half furlongs that served as the principal race at Agawam today. Beaten off three lengths by Lucky Jean in her previous engagement and, thanks to a miserable ride by W. G. Jackson, who rode the Dwyer miss, Ritorno was good enough to dominate all of the running for the intermediate dash to score by a daylight margin. Her chief opponent at the finish was True Tune, from the J. A. Manfuso stable, they coming to the line separated by a length and a half, as Pirate Lass drove into third place for W. E. Johnson. The others to contest the issue were Petline, Lucky Jean and Working Girl and they came to the finish in that order. FILLY RACE. The Hotel Bridgeway Purse was fashioned exclusively for three-year-old fillies. The start for this was a good one but Lucky Jean, naturally a fast beginner, was eased back almost immediately by Jackson. Ritorno, particularly alert and on the outside, was quickest out of the .stalls and Bejshak adc good use of it. With a half mile back of him Ritorno was roused for the final drive and it took little from her to withstand True Tune. Pirate Lass, finishing gamely, overhauled Petline, but Lucky Jean, after her early abuse, was not troublesome. Ideal conditions for the first time during the present week attracted a large midweek attendance and racing took place over a fast track.
