CLIPSE1TA STAKES PROSPECTS Historic Filly Race Scheduled for Saturday at Latonia. Fredalou Works Impressively for Race-Gallops Five-Eighths in Handy Fashion Over Fast Track. LATONIA, Ky., June 16. A large and select field of juvenile fillies is anticipated for the fifty-fifth running of the Clipsetta Stakes, ,500 added, which is the next important stakes fixture on the Latonia program being scheduled for Saturday. More than a dozen of the better grade of youngsters are likely to match strides over the five and a half furlongs route in the historic event, which has been an annual offering at Latonia since racing was instituted at the Covington course in 1883. Among those regarded as likely contestants for the Clipsetta are Mrs. J. L. Carricks Anne Leslie, A. L. Fergusons Shining Heels, J. O. Keenes Epoine, F. P. Letelliers Fredalou, J. R. Nevilles Romaine, J. W. Parrishs Genevra M., C. R. Thompsons Noticing, A. F. Lloyds My Wo, R. L. Stivers Queen Regnant, Mrs. F. Prestons Fine Mint, David Butlers Cloud o Dust, C. R. Allens Miss Mars and several others, thus providing a classy array of youngsters. With a field of twelve engaging in the Clipsetta, it will have a gross value of ,720, which is smaller than in 1936, but in excess of that during the three years immediately previous. DOUBLE B. WORKED FAST. The most impressive of the trials recorded over a fast track today was that of Frank P. Letelliers Fredalou, when she was sent five furlongs in 1:01 in handy fashion. She reeled off the first quarter in :23, three-eighths in :36, half mile in :48 and the five panels in 1:01. The only faster move for this distance was credited the J. D. Weils older sprinter Double B. which was timed in 1:00. Carrickore, from the stable of J. Byron Hilliard indulged in a half mile speed test, traveling the opening quarter in :24 and the four furlongs in :50 handily. C. Whitney Moore had Bindy out for a test of five furlongs, the route being covered in 1:02 handily. The only other Clipsetta eligible to appear on the track was Matt Lairs Parisian Maid, a daughter of Flying Heels Straight Shot. The brown filly was timed the five furlongs in the following fractions: quarter in :24, three-eighths in :36, half mile in :50 and the five furlongs in 1:03.
