CROSS KEYS, rushed into a contending position in the first eighth, was under stout restraint on the turn, carrie around the leaders gradually, responded to urging when straight in the stretch, and won drawing out.- MIGHTY SWEET had speed from the start, was under -light reserve for about three-eighths and stood a drive gamely, though failing to hold the winner. CLEMATIS had -to be steadied when in fairly close quarters racing to the turn, was slow to respond when clear, but came with determination through the final quarter. AIREGLA began fast and quickly opened up a commanding lead, but began to tire after about three-eighths. MA HORNIDGE tired. CINDY was in the early -crowding. MARCIE S. saved ground, but was held safe throughout. SUNNY FIELDS began slowly. PEGGING AWAY, taken back early, never recovered. SHANDON QUEEN, away fast, bolted sharply to the outside, after taking only a few strides and, dropping far out of it, had no chance thereafter. Scratched Vassar, 115. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE. JULIA GRANT, away fast, was taken under light restraint when unable to outrun TRANSPORT, rallied when placed to strong urging and wore down TRANSPORT in the closing strides. The latter rushed from the start and, taken to the inside after drawing clear on the turn, tired from its early efforts and "could not withstand the winner. JABBERIE raced wide, bettered her position gradually and withstood the rush of BOOTS GREENOCK. The latter closed boldly. NORTH BLAZE had no mishaps. THISTLE GENIE suffered a hard fall while at the post, was shuffled back early, but finished fast. SUN ERIN quit. MADCAP YANKEE failed to keep up. REPAID, away slowly, worked his way up gradually during the first three-eighths, took command with a rush on the stretch turn and, tiring after three-quarters, won under pressure. AMERICAN PRINCE, outrun for five-eighths, came with fine belated speed thereafter and swerved sharply to the inside near the end. OTTOMAN, cleverly rated, held on well to the last sixteenth, where she tired. BOHEMIAN LASS saved much ground. CENTENNIAL was through after five-eighths. ALICE G., going in her best form and racing wide when forcing the pace, wore down LUCKY DUCKY without need of strong urging, but was lightly shaken up in the last fifty yards. .COSETTE, well up from the start, swerved out on the stretch turn and, holding on well, wore down LUCKY DUCKY, though inclined to bear to the inside in the final eighth. LUCKY DUCKY, quick to begin, forced back SUNCRAX and VIRGINIA J. approaching the turn, saved ground thereafter and held on well, but was not good enough. SHATTERPROOF went well from a slow start. VIRGINIA J., eased back before going a quarter, failed to rally when clear. LEGEND A was outrun. SUNCRAX suffered mild early interference and. bore out in the stretch. LADY MONTROSE, permitted to move up steadily while under stout restraint the first three-quarters, gave way slowly when placed to pressure. CHANCE RAY tired after showing good early speed. GRAND MANITOU, under stout urging from the start, began to fall back slowly on the far turn but came again mildly when entering the stretch, only to falter in the final eighth. GREY COUNT, taken under restraint after being rushed to the front in the opening quarter, slowly came away from PRAIRIE DOG when placed to energetic riding after three-quarters and, opening up a good lead in the final eighth, was safe from CROSS S., and worked out a mile and a quarter in 2.07. CROSS S., slow to start, improved his position gradually to the stretch turn, where he went wide and, coming again strongly when straight, was going fastest of all at the end. ROBERT L., a factor from the start, was jostled about on the stretch turn, but quickly worked his way clear and closed resolutely., PRAIRIE DOG was under pressure after about five-eighths" and began to tire when nearing the last eighth. TEDDY GREEN, far back early, moved up with a rush and but for bearing over badly might have been a stronger factor at the end. MURPH raced wide, could not get to the leaders, and faltered in the last quarter. YELLOW TULIP was under strong urging from the start, but did not keep up. TALKED ABOUT was through early. METAURUS, close up from the start Tind under snug restraint for five-eighths, held on well under strong riding thereafter. WHICHAWAY came with determination in the final quarter and dead heated TORNADIC in the final stride. The latter, under restraint for three-quarters, failed to rally when strongly urged, yet held on well. WEGOWAY could, not get up. YENRAC was used up forcing the pace and tired badly after three-quarters. UNKIE TOM could hot untrack himself. PEGGYS PEGGY, under a hustling ride, began to tire after about seven-eighths, but held the others safe. SIR AJAX went well. BISTRITA quit. WHITE LEGS was far back throughout.
