ROUGH TIME IMPRESSIVELY Runs Six Furlongs in 1:10 to Capture Honors in Commonwealth Handicap at Suffolk Downs. BOSTON, Mass., June 16. Rough Time left no doubt whatsoever that he is one of the best three-year-old sprinters in the, New England racing sector as he carried 126 pounds and raced six furlongs in 1:10, time jthat was just a fifth of a second off the I track record, to win the Commonwealth Handicap, ,500 added feature of the midweek sport at Suffolk Downs. The J. Yancey Christmas colorbearer finished out a length and a half clear of A. C. Norris Guy Fawkes after setting all the pace. A. C. Comptons Clingendaal was two and a half lengths back of the leaders as he finished third. Chicol-i orado was fourth. Bagpipe and Ocean Roll were the only other starters. They finished ! as named. I Rough Time broke fast. Guy Fawkes was I not off in the leading trio, but made up ground rapidly and as they came out of the head of the chute he set sail for the leader. Rough Time had a length margin down the back stretch, with Guy Fawkes after him and Ocean Roll third. As they went to the far turn Guy Fawkes moved through on the rail and went to within a neck of Guy Fawkes. The pair came into the stretch closely locked and were running close together. The close riding, however, did not seem to affect the result, Approaching the I sixteenth post Guy Fawkes dropped back as the sizzling pace began to tell. Rough Time, with Tommy Luther riding hard to the end, drew off slightly in the final seventy yards from his stubborn rival." Ocean Roll retired at the head of the stretch and Clingendaal, exhibiting his usual stretch powers, moved to third. However, the leading pair was going so fast that not once did he appear to be a serious menace. Chicolorado made a brief bid at the turn for home, found the pace too much and dropped out of it, losing the show by a length. Bagpipe was never a factor. The winner conceded the speedy Guy Fawkes ten pounds in the race. A beautiful and pleasant day brought some 17,000 fans out to witness the excellent card that secretary Jim Monroe arranged for the final Wednesday of the session.
