MUDDY FOOTING AT OMAHA Clarice McClain Wins Despite Un- , certain Ability on Soft Track Gray Gets Eiders Prize. OMAHA, Neb., June 16. Ak-Sar-Ben entered the second half of its meeting Wednesday afternoon under adverse conditions. , The track was muddy and considerable rain fell during the day. Because of the condition of the track most of the fans turned their support from Clarice McClain in the opening race. The ten-year-old mare had no impressive mud record but apprentice R. McCarty, an Omaha boy, had her off in front and. she remained there to the end. She paid 0.40. The Hunt, Beezley and Boeing stable Jed the owners for the first half of the meeting, while the stable of W. A. Mikel was second. Allan Gray, rider for the Hunt, Beezley and Boeing barn, showed the way to the jockeys and won a gold watch, while E. De Prang, who was second, received a suit of clothes as his prize. Similar prizes will be given to the leading jockeys for the last half of the meeting. Favorites fared well during the first half of the meeting, the average of winning choices being about 39 per cent. Twentyr three races were run and 3,300 in purse money distributed.
