POETIC AMONG JUVENILES I Pull Brother to Paradisical Added to i Stable of Axton and Friedberg at Churchill Downs. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April. 19. The two- ; year-old Poetic, a full brother to the splen- did race mare Paradisical is among three of that age recently added to the stable of ; E. D. Axton and H. Friedberg at Churchill Downs. The other juveniles, all of which , were brought in from the farm by trainer i Jack Hanover since his arrival from Florida, are Horace B. and Montsin. The latter is a bay daughter of Ormont and Cousin Ethel, therefore a full sister to Ethelmont. Horace B. is a gelding by Monks Way and Mary R. I Paradisicals young brother has a chestnut ; coat with a blaze face and one white stock-; ing. Poetic does not greatly resemble Para-! disical, and his conformation leaves some-1 thing to be desired, but Hanover believes he vill make a very useful performer. His illustrious older sister, owned by Ike J. Collins, has been retired and will be bred this spring. Paradisical and Poetic are by In Memoriam and Madrigal. RECENT ADDITIONS. The three-year-olds Isolene and Nicella were other recent additions to the Axton-Friedberg string. Like the younger horses they wintered at the farm. A fine crop of 1938 foals is reported at the farm by trainer Hanover, who recently inspected the new arrivals and also the nine yearlings at the place. Sires represented among this seasons foals, of which ten are scampering about the pastures, are Chance Play, Balladier, Clock Tower, Hadagal and Bostonian. Hanover has decided against any further attempt to train Bolo, and he may be used for limited breeding purposes. Axton and Friedberg, whose blue and white colors have been seen at many of the countrys leading tracks, are tobacco merchants of this city, and, as sportsmen, are- much interested in thoroughbreds. Last year they sent a number of their mares to some of the most fashionable stallions, with a view to improving the quality of their stock. With only a few exceptions they race all of the horses they raise. Their trainer, a former jockey, is confident the new breeding policy will give the stable a greater importance in racing.
