KOONTZ STRING AT DOWNS Owner of Paulfred Farm to Campaign Stable at Lonisville Under Trainer Ross Higdon. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 19 The colors of Fred B. Koontz, one of the leading breeders of the Southwest, will be seen at Churchill Downs during the meeting opening a week from Saturday. The Koontz horses are here in charge of Ross Higdon, and the owner is heading a large party of Oklahoma racing enthusiasts coming here for Derby week. At Koontz Paulfred Farm, near Tulsa, there are more than sixty mares and the stallion, Pairbypair, while the horse Sweeping Light, also owned by Koontz and which was transferred to Kentucky following his season in the stud at Paulfred Farm, remains at Military Stock Farm, near Lexington. Among the horses Higdon brought to Kentucky for spring racing are Miss Firefly, Contrast, Smiling Prince, Gay Bubble, Chat-terfol, Banner Witch and Personable. Higdon said that he is sending about twelve to Aurora in about a week. Those horses will be transferred from the farm at Hot Springs.
