THE CHIEF TO BE STARTER Earl Sande to Ship Colt to Keeneland for His Engagement in Blue Grass Stakes. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 19. Word was received by officials of Keeneland from Earl Sande that he will send Col. Maxwell Howards The Chief here to fulfill his engagement in the ,000 added Blue Grass Stakes, mile and a furlong test which will serve as the final days attraction of the eleven-day meeting at the local course. An effort was made by the Keeneland management to have Sande send the chestnut son of Pennant Transit to Keeneland to compete in the Mereworth Purse on Tuesday, which is to engage such strong Kentucky Derby candidates as Hal Price Headleys Menow, Calumet Farms Bull Lea, Dixianas Kings Heir and others. However, Sande did not deem it advisable to transfer his charge from Churchill Downs where he has been in training since his arrival from Santa Anita, but stated that he contemplated vanning The Chief to Keeneland next Tuesday,
