OFFERS FOR GOV. CHANDLER Owner J. 0. Metz Refuses to Part With Son of Reigh Count Eligible for Derbys. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 19. Several attractive offers have been received by J. C. Metz, Newport, Ky., sportsman, for the three-year-old Gov. Chandler, which was named for Kentuckys chief executive, A. B. "Happy" Chandler, and is a candidate for the sixty-fourth running of the Kentucky Derby. Although . Metz was reticent to disclose who tendered the offers for the son of Reigh Count, which is receiving his preparation for the 0,000 added event here at Keeneland, he admitted that he was considering the offers. Gov. Chandler finished third behind Tiger and Silver Sarah in the Arkansas Derby a few weeks ago after experiencing considerable trouble, and since being shipped to Keeneland the chestnut gelding has displayed several impressive trials. It is the intention of his owner-trainer to start Gov. Chandler at least once and perhaps twice during the current meeting at the Lexington track. In addition to being a candidate for the Kentucky Derby, Gov. Chandler has been nominated for the Illinois Derby, 2,000 added feature of the Fox Valley Jockey Clubs season at Aurora and is eligible for the ,000 added Diamond State Stakes and Kent Handicap, 0,000 added, which are on the Delaware Park summer program.
