FISHER STRING AT DETROIT Clyde Van Dusen Unloads Twenty-Four Dixiana Horses. Many Stables Arrive From River Downs and Other Points — Meeting Begins Next Saturday. DETROIT, Mich., May 24.— Another of the many important stables which will participate in the Detroit spring meeting, which opens on Saturday, reached the Fair Grounds track this morning, when twenty-four head, the property of Charles T. Fisher, who races under the nom de course of Dixiana, arrived in charge of trainer Clyde Van Dusen. Five others will arrive here this week, three head coming from Louisville and two from River Downs. Kings Heir and Torchy, winners of the Hopeful and Cincy Inaugural Handicap .are the leaders of the band, which also includes Polly Hastings, Power Box, Har Mac, Bet-cha, Fly Time, Petes Niece, All Lady, Lady Sarah, Red Haste, Battler, Torch Stick, Tartarus, Carrying Time, Rhett, World War, Cup Defender, Allegro, Hurly Burly, All Time High, The Knitter, Dark Beauty and Model Mary. The Summitview Stable of Senator Mike Casey arrived from Kansas City in charge of J. W. Manning, and is composed of Soldier Girl, Colleen Don, Marching Man, Lady Officer, Princess Devon, Prince Devon, Water Eagle, Baby Eagle, Busy Eagle and Skirting Eagle. From Maryland, Charles Limerick brought Flaselda, Pardell and Bigenuf, which race for H. G. Stanley, New Deal and Rock Master, the property of E. T. Hickson, and A. E. Turrentine, with Little Tramp. Among the many stables to check in from River Downs was the Dattner Stable consisting of Cuban Boy, Chalphone, Flying Lance, Starwick, Blonde Spook, Wise Hildur, Transfix and Transtick; L. V. Red Rogue, Gay May, Strut, John Francis, Lignum Vitae and Lady Genie; and Walter Ridenour with Ho, Ed, Lady Overbrook, Cynic Queen, Mr. Brook, Morcorine and Lanier. At the close of the Woodbine meeting on Saturday, the Parkwood Stable, in charge of Frank Gilpin, the H. R. Bain stable, and Connie Smythes band will come to Detroit. Detroit did not escape the general rains which have prevailed in the midwest during the past week and consequently the track has been in bad condition. However, it sheds water rapidly, and in the event of no more rain, track superintendent Norman Miller expects to have it in its best condition for the opening program.
