Groff took a contract on Herman Tackett, a sixteen-year-old boy, who hails from Ewing, Ky. Tackett scales at 85 pounds and has been galloping horses for several months. James Chesney has arranged to transfer his stable to Fairmount Park Wednesday night. Among the stables to get away tonight for Detroit were those of Henry McGarvey, N. D. Thompson, a division of the James C. Ellis stable, C. Bunte and A. T. Cragin. Jockey R. Montgomery, B. C. Carpenter and Joe Harwick, who came from Louisville for Mondays racing, returned to the Falls City. Mrs. Des Dressen, wife of the popular manager of the pari-mutuel department at Detroit, who recently underwent a major operation at the St. Joseph Hospital in Louisville, arrived in Cincinnati late Monday and will remain here until her condition improves.
