MANIE OHARA, close up from the start and kept on the outside while racing under steady restraint for almost five eighths, took command gradually when ready and, continuing well, held DELOVELY safe. The latter, also raced wide, bettered her position fast after reaching the turn and held on gamely under pressure in the last eighth, but did not menace the winner. MR. SMITH, a factor from the start tired in the drive, but withstood the rush of COUNTESS LENA. The latter, away well but unable to keep MB appeared to stumble soon after reaching the turn, was slow to recover, Lut came with a rush in the stretch HIEF NADI began slowly. LINA MAC was going eamelv in the late stages. BESS B had speed then stumbled on the stretch turn and tired thereafter. CHIEF MENTEUR quit. Overweight— Manie OHara, 1£ pounds. 1 SECOND RACE 5-8 MILE. BLUE SU, rushed to a contending position while raring wide, was given a short breathing spell on the stretch turn, got to the front in the final eighth and held on well, but was not good enough. WEE BETSY displayed good speed from the start, but began to tire after a half mile and swerved out in the late stages. VTVIDITY began well and showed an even effort. KEYWAY lost ground BLOSSOM QLEEN was held safe from a slow beginning. FLORENCE M. had little chance. SALLY T. raced greenly MYRICA, crowded back early, was far back thereafter. POTTAGE, outrun early and taken out for the firmer footing after a quarter, came with a rush in the stretch and was drawing out fast at the end. RIPPLEALONG, rated under a strong hold to the final quarter, responded when called upon, but tired after opening up a eood lead and barely outstayed BIRDS EYE. The latter, under strong urging from the start and racing wide after three eighths, held on gamely. LUCKY AMELIA, away slowly and not hurried in the early stages, was blocked soon after reaching the stretch and came with a rush when clear. ADA W. was on the inside much of the race. SUN HOUR tired ASSIST did not respond when placed to mild pressure and faltered in the last quarter. DROMBO did not extend himself. LUCY, saving much ground, was racing strongly on the inside when blocked by BRANDON PRINCE entering the stretch, came out in the last eighth and was wearing the winner down. MR. MACK moved up slightly approaching the stretch and went evenlv in the drive. KAPENA swerved while closing on his own courage. CHARMED CIRCLE quit. ESCOLEE, awav slowlv, could not untrack herself.
