ELYLEE. quickest to beg;n but outrun by NELLIE Mc, was steadied along in close attendance of the pace, responded gamely to punishment nearing the stretch and. kept under stout urging the entire last eighth, was doing his utmost at the close. NELLIE Mc drew clear in the opening quar:»r mile, was rated along under slight restraint and held on gamely when challenged through the closing quarter mile. NEBRASKA CITY moved up on the inside in the last five-sixteenths and closed in determined style. UNFURL lacked her accustomed early speed, although closing a good gap. FORCED LANDING, fortunate in gaining clear sailing midway down the back stretch, went into contention with a rush, but was unable to close any ground thereafter. Scratched— 56759 Silvery Way. 114. JACQUELINE M. followed in nearest chase of the pace established by DEVILS MATE until reaching the stretch, responded eamely to punishment and, taking command inside the last eighth, was drawing away, although under urging to the close. DEVILS MATE displayed speed frcm the start, opened up a comfortable early lead and, while holding on well, was not good enough. SPRING MELODY, unable to reach the leaders, was going stoutly throu :h the closing seventy yards. RHODIUM was well placed early, although unable to make any ground under urg.ng. FEEDMAN larked speed to keep up early, displayed a brief flash nearing the far turn, moved up briefly and was unable to close any ground during the last five-sixteenths. TRANSDAY displayed speed from the start, followed along in closest chase of ANXIETY until reaching the stretch, moved up on the outside to take command and was carried out somewhat throueh the last eighth when the early pacemaker bore out slightly. ANXIETY opened up a good lead in the first eighth. made a game bid to go along with the winner when challenged but was not quite good enough and swerved under pumshment in the stretch. BLACKY BEE came willingly in the stretch run. MYRNA LEE, away fast and kept under urging all the way, was unable to close any ground through the closing stages. PRADIS closed some ground. MIXWELL. outpaced early, came with a belated rush throueh the stretch. OWALLER displaed =peed in the pacemaking, faltering in the last three sixteenths. BLUE MARVEL went to the front at once, drew clear in the first three sixteenths and, rate along in front, was never seriously threatened, although ridden out smartly at the end. SUPERWICK, in closest pursuit of the pace from almost the beginning, continued willingly to the close. DARK BEAU was unable to keep the pace early, moved up on the inside entering the stretch and closed with good energy. SHANGAY LILY lacked speed to keep the pace early, moved up on the outside after going three eighths and, while closing some ground in the stretch, was never a serious threat. GALA STAR tired. UPSTREAM was not hurried during the early running, was taken to the outside when reaching the back stretch, moved up steadily to take command when called upon and. holding to a position well out in the track, had enough left to stave off the closing bid of LANDLUBBER. The latter came through on the inside on the stretch turn and closed with a rush. BOGGLE trailed until the last five-sixteenths then clos-d a big gap through the stretch run. BRILLIANT PLAY, avoiding the fast early pace, was unable to reach the leaders when placed under punishment. SAGE LEAF tired after going three-quarters. ARAHO LASS moved up threateningly nearing the last turn, only to tire in the closing test. ALUP quit in the last three sixteenths. MOTILLA dropped back after rounding the far turn. POOP DECK, restrained until leaving the back stretch, worked his way up eraduallv and, closing with a rush on the outside through the stretch, was up in the closing stride. BLUE KING worked his way up gradually on the outside, wore down the early pacemakers to take command inside the last eighth and, despite holding on willingly, just failed to last. MAKEIT had speed from the start, although unable to go along with the first two in the final drive. BOGERTIN, taken back off the pace, came willinglv in the drive. WEELUKIE was well up early. HERONDAS was never able to enter into serious contention. JOY FLAG had eood speed and took command in the stretch, only to tire badly during the last sixteenth BAY BUDDY was outrun. LACONIC went to the front straightening out on the back stretch, was rated under slight restraint, responded gamely when placed under pressure and held MISS HOLLYWOOD safe. The latter was prominent all the way and fought it out determinedly to the close. LONG WAVE dropped back after straightening out on the back stretch, lost ground when bettering her position and. losing considerable ground at the stretch turn, was unable to reach the first two under urging.
