FAIRMOUNT ATTRACTS RIDERS Crack List of Reinsmen to Take Part in Coming Meeting. Willie Lee Johnson, S. Williams, M. Knight, J. Dyer and B. Mason Among Those Expected at Track. COLLINSVILLE. 111., May 24.— There will i ! no lack of outstanding jockey talent for the thirty-one day Fairmount Park spring meeting, commencing Decoration Day, a week from Monday, if a partial list of riders received by general manager D. C. Burnett today, is any indication. Willie Lee Johnson, Sammy "Tex" j [ Williams. Melvin Knight, Joe Dyer, Bobby Morris, Joey Stampfel, Bobby Mason, Hal j West, Joey Bomar, Willie McCadden, and Willie Lowe are only a few of the well-known ] j pilots who have already signified their intentions of participating in the coming meeting. WILLIAMS PLANS. Definite announcement of Williams coming was made yesterday by C. Ray, trainer of the large stable of James C. Ellis, president of Dade Park, as he unloaded five of the stables fifteen thoroughbreds across the river. Ray said Williams would come along with the ten ether equines in the establishment fiom River Downs sometime next week, and would remain here throughout the campaign. Williams is sure to be a contender for the local riding title now held by Johnson, and which is also expected to be hotly contested by Knight, Morris, Stampfel and the others. One of the stars of the Hialeah Park meeting last winter, Williams currently is the riding leader at River Downs, by a big margin, and the 95-pound Texas lad is said by horsemen to be a real star in the making. Knights coming is too of interest. Melvin about a decade ago won a national championship, and rode for the eastern sportsman, J. E. Widener.
