I LAUREL PARK TURF NOTES S V, Word reached here from Wheeling, W. Va., that jockey R. Root is confined to a hospital there, suffering with a bad cold; Jack Carpenter, teletype operator for the Baltimore News-Post, donated precious blood to Miss Anna Jerrafa, in a blood transfusion, Wednesday morning. Carpenter suffered no ill iffects and was at his usual place in the press box. Rigan McKinney, amateur rider of note, joined the steeplechase riding colony at Laurel, Wednesday. Richard Dickman is in charge of the Bo-mar Stable horses during the period that trainer R. E. Potts is at Keeneland Park. Jockey F. Scheih departed for his home in Idaho to spend a vacation with his parents before going to California, where he will ride for the J. H. Whitney stable. Jockey Raymond Workman, who became a free lance rider on Tuesday, left for Jamaica to ride The Fighter in the Interbor-ough Handicap. Jockey F. A. Smith has been engaged by trainer W. A. Crawford to ride Sun Alexandria in the Laurel Stakes Saturday. J. W. Y. Martin, C. White, F. A. Bonsai and; members of the Hunts left for Rose-tree to attend the hunt session at Media, Pa., on Wednesday. Trainer Fred Krieger, who raced several horses in New England for Cleaveland Putnam, is without material at the present time due to losing the horses that he raced via the claiming route. Krieger hopes to secure a public stable to race at one of the winter tracks. Idle Miss and seven other horses of the B. F. Christmas stable, reached here from Jamaica. Idle Miss is scheduled to perform in the Laurel Stakes here on Saturday. Jolly Tar and Time Me are the latest additions to the schooling list at Laurel. Charles S. Howard, owner of Scabiscuit, was a clubhouse visitor at Laurel on Wednesday an intends to remain to watch Scabiscuit perform in the Laurel Stakes, then witness his training for the match race with War Admiral.
