RECOMMENDS CHICAGO SUBWAY WASHINGTON, D. C, Oct. 12 Forecasting final approval of a subway for Chicago PWA administrator Ickes today recommended to President Roosevelt Plan No. 2, which calls for a grant of 8,000,000 for construction of a project estimated to cost 7,910,000. PWA officials said that in all probability the President will give his approval to the project tomorrow. Ickes recommendation and approval of the enlarged plan was contained in a letter to the President dated yesterday. Following recommendation of a special committee which investigated subway proposals for Chicago, Ickes recommended approval of a plan which calls for a larger system than originally contemplated by Chicago officials.
