SELECT CASSIDY AS STARTER FOR THE PIMLICO SPECIAL BALTIMORE, Md., Oct. 12. George Cas-sidy has been asked to act as starter for the Pimlico Special, for War Admiral and Sea-biscuit, to be run at Pimlico, Tuesday, November 1. It was reported today that Jer-vis Spencer, Jr., chairman of the Maryland Racing Commission, had written Cassidy asking him to start the two thoroughbreds in their championship race. Spencers letter was prompted by the request of James Milton, veteran starter at the major Maryland circuits, to be relieved of his duty in the War Admiral-Seabiscuit race, inasmuch as he understood Mr. Riddle was reluctant to run War Admiral with Milton as starter. Spencer said he understood that George Cassidy would be an acceptable starter to both Riddle and Howard, owners of the two horses. Under the terms of the agreement for the race, the start will be a walk-up, no stalls and no assistant starters on the track. The starter will, however, use the regular starting bell.
