RAMROD, under steadying restraint while in near pursuit of the pace, moved up quickly when urged, overcame bumping from LADY CHARLOTTE and outgamed JENS SON in a long drive. The latter, taken in hand early, saved ground throughout, took a slight lead in the stretch and held on well. LADY BRIAR improved her position steadily on the outside after a slow beginning and finished fastest. LADY CHARLOTTE set a steady pace for a half mile and bore out when tiring. TWINKLE FEET tired. TIMEFUL, unable to keep up on the inside, was taken to the extreme outside and, improving his position steadily, closed with a tremendous rush to get up right at the end. SLAVE SONG gained a contending position early, advanced slowly to take a slight lead a sixteenth out, but failed to last under strong handling. HE SAID raced SHELBY KING into submission, cut to the inside entering the stretch, but tired in the drive. BROWN COMET moved up quickly along the rail, was preparing to assume command when knocked back by HE SAID and continued gamely thereafter. FLY STONE raced well to the stretch. SHELBY KING tired badly. WHAT NOW had brief speed. CONGRESSMAN, uncovering a fine burst of speed, sprinted into a clear lead early, was rated along smoothly while setting a steady pace, was shaken up upon reaching the stretch and held the opposition safe under hand riding. DAH HE, allowed to settle into his stride gradually and outrun for three-quarters, moved up steadily on the outside when called upon, hut failed to menace the winner. DIAVOLO BOY, on the inside while under steadying restraint, shook off MISS BULL DOG entering the stretch, but tired in the final sixteenth. PANTHER CREEK in close quarters early, raced to the inside rounding the turn and, making his bid in between horses, continued gamely. BACON bid for an early lead under repeated urging, raced GENE WAGERS into submission, but faltered in the late stages. GENE WAGERS had good speed for five-eighths.
