; 1 t NARRAGANSETT PARK NOTES $ - Jockey James Haritos arrived from Thorn-cliffe, Canada. He will ride the horses of A. Gaignard during the meet. Eill Irvine brought in twelve head from Rockingham. Bill picked up four useful horses during the Rockingham meeting. He will campaign here during the entire meet. Jockey J. Richards checked in. He -will ride Bill Hartmans horses here. Buddy Wingfield checked in this morning from Hawthorne, bringing with him his complete ground crew. Buddy has signed to act as starter at Oriental Park, Havana, during the winter meet there. Bill Shelley, father of racing secretary Bob Shelley, also arrived from Chicago and assumed charge of his sons office. He will j pinch hit for Bob until the latter returns from Chicago next week. Horses fairly poured into Karragansett Wednesday, several shipments arriving by train while a steady stream of trucks and vans brought animals and equipment in j through the Manton Street gate. Stable boss George Jordan estimated that over 1,400 horses would be on the grounds by Wednesday .night. Frank Kearns shipped in six two-year-olds, including Easy Mon, Taken, Rita Z. and Doubt Not. Bull Lea, Calumet Stable star, is entered in several stakes and will be shipped here early next week. Jockey Eddie Smith will ride for Kirby Ramsey during the Narragansett meet. Jockey W. Leishman will ride Mr. Blaze for ! the S. J. Norris Stable in the Worcester .Handicap here Saturday. Trainer Merle Simmons shipped a string of seven useful horses from Rockingham j Park. The string included Jessie V. L., Dinette, Dark Beau, Notice Me, Laddie Stone, Feedman and The Wink. Tom Steele, assistant to racing secretary Bob Shelley, checked in Wednesday morning "from Sportsmans Park. J. A. Nixs string of nine arrived Wednes-i day night from Chicago in charge of trainer 1 Lanky Avant. Heading the string is the chestnut colt Woodsaw, which is entered in the Worcester Handicap, to be run here Saturday. M. Quintero, Cuban jockey, under contract to the W. E. Emerson Stable, registered here I Wednesday morning. Red Crawford will make his engagements.
