1 SHREVEP0RT TURF NOTES $ Former jockey Henry Thibodeau has returned to the ranks of trainers after an absence of nearly a year and will direct the conditioning of the horses owned by J. M. Brooks of New Iberia. Those that Thibodeau brought in from the Brooks Farm, where they received their preliminary training, are John Marcum, Ruth Scott, Miss Gorgeous, Weclukie, Light Rolls and Beav Phaona. Noble Tiller unloaded eight horses he brought in from Fairmount Park, which will be prepared for racing at the -State Jockey Club track. These include Zekiel, Amazement, Royal Treasure, Ragacreek, Apronette, Alkali, Indian Salute and Rapid Bells. With the track in its best condition, training activities are beginning to hum. Word was received by officials of the State Jockey Club that a division of the large stable owned by "Butsey" Hernandez and E. B. Shipp, both of New Orleans, will be sent to Shreveport within the next few days. Arrivals from Wheeling, W. Va., included C. O. Grieves and "Buck" McClellan. The former has Grand Sweep, Lee Band and King Belgian, while McClellan brought in Oddesa Beau, Buena, Morley Firth, B. Baron and Lady La Marne. It is probable that apprentice Don Manifold will be among the youngsters who will be seen sporting silks during the twenty-five-day meeting. The Nebraskan rode with a good measure of success during the past summer on mid-western tracks. Four horses, the property of Mrs. R. M. Chastain, and one owned by Dickey De Stieger, arrived Wednesday. Mrs. Chastain sent in Caw Caw, Ora Negra, Passinemup and Iva Day, while Miss "De Stieger has Cheers, a four-time winner at Longacres.
