16 POUNDS CANDY PER PERSON PEORIA, 111., Oct. 12. It is estimated that 2,000,000,000 pounds of candy are consumed in America annually, or an average of sixteen pounds per person. The figures were used by Mrs. Julia Stevens, head of a candy chain in Chicago, in addressing the Peoria Advertising and Selling Club. Mrs. Stevens stated that candy sales throughout the nation have grown from ,000,000 in 1850 to 00,000,000 in 1938.
