IRISH HERO worked his way up steadily on the inside through the back stretch, swung to the outside rounding the far turn, disposed of HASTINOLA for the lead and held STORY TIME safe." STORY TIME was away fast and, steadied along when HASTINOLA went to the front, responded gamely to pressure and was slowly overtaking the winner during the last sixteenth. WILLOW WAND improved her position gradually and came with good energy in the closing drive. HASTINOLA displayed good speed in pacemaking, but faltered through the last three-sixteenths. GERT B. was traveling rapidly at the close after being outrun early. EBLIS, prominent all the way and lightly reserved for the first half mile, responded gamely when called upon straightening out in the stretch and wore down BLANDISHMENT after passing the eighth post to draw out steadily. BLANDISHMENT showed good speed, met repeated early bids from MASKED GAL, disposed of her and, while tiring slightly through the last sixteenth, held the remainder of her company safe. MASKED GAL was forwardly placed throughout, but was unable to go with the first two through the last three-sixteenths. BELIEVER closed a good gap during the final quarter. STARRY NIGHT, hard hustled to gain a forward position, was unable to close any ground during the closing test. MEXICO CITY quit badly. PYRIFORM worked his way up on the outside, went to the front when MY FIRST began tiring and, opening up a good lead, was clear at the end. ALTHORP PARK was outrun for the first half mile, then moved up stoutly on the outside ihrough the stretch. SCOUTING GIRL raced well placed all the way, although no match for the first two in the closing test. CORDATE Was going stoutly through the closing stages after being in hand until the last sixteenth. SUNABELL was unable to reach the leaders. SPRING MELODY followed in pursuit of the pace until reaching the stretch, responded gamely when called upon, readily wore down BRYONIN inside the last eighth and won drawing away rapidly. BRYONIN moved through on the inside to gain command during the opening eighth, opened up a good lead, but was unable to cope with the closing challenge of the winner. SILVER TRACE trailed his field until the last five-sixteenths and was going gamely when too late. QUATERNARY raced well placed from the start, but was unable to go along with the leaders during the lasf quarter mile. FEEDMAN lacked speed to enter contention and was outrun throughout.
