SEABISCOIT GETS TOP WEIGHT Rated Three Pounds Better Horse Than War Admiral. Howard Star Assigned 130 Pounds, War Admiral 127, for Rhode Island Handicap Saturday. PAWTUCKET, R. I., Nov. 8. Racing secretary Bob Shelley of Narragansett Park rates C. S. Howards Seabiscuit a three-pound better horse than Glen Riddle Farms War Admiral. That fact was revealed today when he assigned weights for the 0,000 added Rhode Island Handicap, mile and an eighth feature of Saturdays racing at the Pawtucket course. Should both horses go in the race, the added value will be raised to 5,000. War Admiral is here and working well, and is a certain starter. Seabiscuit is still doubtful. Howard wired from Pimlico today for the weights, and when he received them, remarked that they were fair. However, he stated that Seabiscuit had a rather unsatisfactory work the other day and that trainer Tom Smith is laid up at present with an injury. While he indicated that these facts might prevent Seabiscuit shipping to Narragansett for another meeting with War Admiral, which he beat by four lengths in the Pimlico match race the first of the month, he said he wished to reserve decision in the matter for a day or so. Howard has always been cautious in making statements in regard to plans for Sea-, biscuit, and Narragansett still holds a chance of seeing him meet his arch-rival again. EAGER FOR RETURN RACE. Samuel D. Riddle, proprietor of Glen Riddle Farms, is eager for Seabiscuit to ship here. He says he is by no means satisfied that Seabiscuit is a better horse than War Admiral, and-believes that Man o Wars son may favor this track more than he does the course at Pimlico. If Seabiscuit does not accept, the race appears little more than a walk-over for War Admiral, although Shelley has assigned weights for twenty-two horses. War Admiral will probably be the shortest priced not face his recent conqueror next Satur-horse of the New England season if he does day. Continued on twenty-seventh page.
