BROWNS PICK FRED HANEY ST. LOUIS, Mo., Nov. 8. Following a day after the Cardinals had announced signing Ray Blades as their manager for 1939, the St. Louis Browns released the name of their new leader for next year, namely, Fred Haney, former major league infielder. Haney was manager of the Toledo Mudhens in the American -.ssociation fo the past two years.
