LEONARD WILSON was taken to the outside when reaching the back stretch, moved up gradually and, coming strongly through the stretch, was along inside the last few strides to wear down GOLDEN X. The latter raced to the front at once, opened up a cood lead and, rated in front, fought it out gamely when challenged, but was not quite good enough. THATCH moved up gamely in the run through the back stretch, followed along in nearest pursuit of the pacemaker, but was unable to close any ground under punishment through the stretch.
