. SAFE TRACK AT SHREVEPORT Henry Believes Course Is Better Than Many Mile Tracks Turns Are Well Banked. SHREVEPORT, La., Nov. 8. The Shreve-port Fair Grounds track is not only one of the safest half-mile courses in the country, but it is safer than many of the mile racing strips. Authority for this statement is Charles F. Henry, presiding steward of the State Jockey Club, whose fall meeting is just past the half-way mark. Henry points out that the turns are so wide and so well banked that the chances of accidents are reduced to a minimum. That, the track is safe for horses and riders is attested to by the great number of both on hand for the meeting. Owners of thoroughbreds are not eager to ship to points where tracks are known to be hazardous, and the same can be said of jockeys. As evidence of the popularity of the track, there are more horses on the scene than can adequately be accommodated, and there are approximately sixty jockeys holding licenses to ride here. i
