LAZZERI GETS RELEASE Tony Lazzeri, utility infielder of the Chicago Cubs last season, received his unconditional release Tuesday. Lazzeri wired owner Phil K. Wrigley of the Cubs, asking that he be made a free agent. He was released immediately. Lazzeri came to the Cubs from the New York Yankees at the beginning of the 1938 race. He had been prominently mentioned as a likely successor to Manager Charley Grimm, but when Grimm was released Catcher Gabby Hartnctt was given the post.
