SPRECKELS HANDICAP DEC. 10 Chief Juvenile Event of Tanforan Meeting to Be Decided Next Saturday Afternoon. SAN BRUNO, Calif., Dec. 6. A fine array of two-year-olds go into action on Saturday, December 10, on the Tanforan race track, when the chief juvenile race of the meeting will be offered. The test, the ,500 added A. B. Spreckels Handicap, calls for six furlongs. Nominations closed Saturday. All the classy colts and fillies which have sprung into prominence during the fall season appear to be pointing toward this test. Louis B. Mayers stable has named two to start Mask and Wig, the New York colt which humbled a stout field in a smashing performance at Bay Meadows and in his one and only start in the West. Going with Mask and Wig will be Flying Bonny, the Kentucky queen, winner of six straight. Her training has progressed satisfactorily and shell make her debut in the Spreckels, according to trainer T. D. Grimes. DEAB DIARY PROMISING. To be coupled as the Rowan and McCarthy entry, Dont Forget and Dear Diary, both recent winners, engage in the Spreckels tilt. Dear Diary looks like the best filly of the season and her engagement against the Kentucky miss Flying Bonny alone would bring no end of interest and comment. Ardrigh, snappy California babe which ran second to Dunf rese and looked like a spread for the California Homebred Stakes at Bay Meadows, only to take sick, is back again in right form and named for the Spreckels. Perfect Blend, two-time winner since journeying from New York to the coast, ventures into the Spreckels field, as does Flying Dot, a 50 buy which won two in a row for George Adams. Other nominees include Heelplates, from the Willock barn; Onugo, First Port and Say Judge, running for C. E. Durnell; Audacious Lady and Calneva, the latter a well regarded maiden, trained by Dan Hogan. To this list may be added other late nominees.
