NEW JERSEYS MUTUEL BILL TRENTON, N. J., Dec. 6 It has been agreed in a joint legislative conference committee meeting to recommend action in next Mondays session of the legislature on a bill to establish a referendum date on the question of mutuel wagering on horse racing in this state. It is proposed that final adjournment of the 1938 session be set at an hour before the 1939 body convenes. Another proposal is that the state instead of the counties absorb the cost of the referendum, this sum to be reimbursed by initial revenues expected from the operation of the mutuels.
