JEFFERSON PARK HANDICAP, Next Saturdays Attraction Expect ed to Bring Out Crack Field of Best Horses on the Grounds. i NEW ORLEANS, ia., Dec. 6. The ,500 Jefferson Park Handicap, at a mile and a sixteenth, for three-year-olds and upward will be the main attraction on Saturdays program at the Fair Grounds, but there arei at least two other events on the bill which" should attract good fields. One is the Bay City Handicap, a sprint of six furlongs for5. horses of all ages, and -the other is the Caledonia Purse, another six furlongs affair for two-year-olds. The race for juveniles may bring back into competition Mrs. C. C. Winters Patrol Scout and Joe W. Browns Michigan Flyer, which finished first and second, respectively, in the Biloxi Handicap last Saturday. Michi- gan Flyer was made a pronounced favorite for last week-ends feature, but he found the task of. shouldering 117, pounds, top weight, too exacting and he followed Patrol Scout past the judges, second by a length and a half. Patrol Scout performed under 110 pounds. Others which may be seen under colors in the Caledonia on Saturday are Torch Stick, unbeaten until he took part in the Biloxi; Bright, Hope Diamond, Street Arab, Joji T., High Place and Linger Awhile. - The Bay City Handicap should appeal to C such accomplished sprinters as Jewell Dor-sett, Chief Nadi, Waxwing, Miss Dolphin, Gato, Mixwell, Porcellus, Brown Knight, Grey Streak, Fairflax and Bachdor Dinner. Nominations for the Jefferson Park Handicap close on Thursday and when they are announced the list is expected to include the names of virtually every good distance performer on the grounds. Mrs. C. C. Winters Catomar, winner of the Thanksgiving Handicap, is expected to make the Jefferson Park Handicap his next objective and he is almost certain to rule One of the choices for it. Entries for the Bay City Handicap also close on Thursday.
