LOCAL OWNERS PROSPERING New Orleanians Account for Ten of First Fifty -Six Races Decided at the Fair Grounds. NEW ORLEANS, La., Dec. 6. That New Orleans owners will gather in a good portion of the purses offered by the Louisiana Jockey Club during the 105-days of racing scheduled at the Fair Grounds for the 1938-39 season, is evidenced by the success attained during the first eight days of sport. Of the fifty-six contests decided during this period, Crescent City representatives have garnered a total of ten races, Joe Browns Michigan Flyer, promising juvenile prospect being the most i-rominent of the group with two victories in three starts. Buttons B., has carried the colors of F. P. Letel-lier, to victory, Fire Advance scored for Mrs. C. L. Molay, Levi Cooke and Pandonna each chalked up a win for Mrs. J. Guarneri, while A. J. Stallings Miss Lizzie, Norman "Butsey" Hernandez Manhunt, John Gal-ways Summit Hill and John F. Clark, Jr.s Zacabox each have been victorious on one occasion. If the first eight days of racing is a sample of what is to transpire during the balance of the winter, New Orleanians should figure well up among the successful stables of winter racing. Some of the major outfits of this section have not yet swung, into action and when they settle down to racing, substantial additions are quite certain to result. Few horses have started from the stable of Mrs. Anthony Pelleteri, A. B. Letellier, F. P. Letellier, Arthur Gaignard, and a few others, therefore when these make their appearance, more frequently than in the past, the coffers of the localities should be swelled no little.
