WILLIAM E. DODD UNDER BOND j 1 HANOVER COURT HOUSE, Va., Dec. 9. Accused of being a hit and run driver, William E. Dodd, former ambassador to Germany, was under ,000 bond today pending a preliminary hearing December 16 on information furnished by witnesses. State Policeman C. Johnstone accused the former diplomat of being the driver of an automobile which struck Gloria Grimes, four-year-old Negro girl, Monday and failed to stop. Dodd told reporters that he did not know his machine struck the child. When he learned about it he said he reported the matter to the state motor vehicle authorities and gave the girls family financial assistance.
