WATERFORD DOWNS PLANS CHARLES TOWN, W. Va., Dec. 9. Buckler and Fenhagan, architects of Baltimore, have drawn up plans for the construction of Waterford Downs, Inc., opposite Wellsville, Ohio, but in West Virginia, which will soon become part of the racing wheel in the United States. The new plant is being sponsored by Al J. Boyle, general manager and president of the Charles Town Jockey Club, and he has arranged for work on the new racing venture to be started in early spring of 1939. The new track will be one mile in circumference and will be modernistic in every detail, including escalators that will transport fans from the railroad unloading platforms to the grandstand. Model barns will be installed and the best equipment will j be purchased for use on the track-proper. Many other features will be incorporated in the plans drawn up and it is expected that the newest racing grounds will contain every available convenience for the public, horsemen and stables.
