ENGLES LAD, away forwardly and kep$ under pressure early, moved forward willingly when placed to a drive, engaged the pacemaker nearing the stretch, finished stoutly in the final eighth under a vigorous drive and was up nearing the close. FLYING HEART sprinted into a long lead, saved ground all the "way, but failed to withstand the winner. PRAIRIE MAN was ridden hard, but could not improve his position. AIR EDDY lacked early speed and could not reach a forward position. GROUCHERS BOY closed a big gap. ASTERISK raced well for a half mile. DAISY PETAL and LITTLE HARPIST were outrun. DUNRITA, going in near pursuit of the pacemaker, responded strongly in the closing drive, assumed command inside the final eighth and barely lasted long enough to stall off WHICH BLOND. The latter, beginning slowly, settled in stride to gain fast in the last half mile and finished full of run when securing racing room on the inside in the stretch run. NATIONAL was in the first flight from the beginning and came gamely in the final issue. CLARET PUNCH was ridden hard while setting the pace and continued with good courage to the finish. BELLTHORN failed to reach a contending position, but was racing strongly at the end. LEW DUNLIN could not menace. FLITTING FENG tired. MORVIM, going strongly in the early racing, bettered her position stoutly when shaken up, wore down LOCOMOTIVE rounding the final turn, went into a clear lead and came out steadily under urging. LOCOMOTIVE had good speed while setting the pace, but could not stay with the winner when caught. SHERIFF EUGENE, permitted to fall back going to the first turn, improved his position stoutly, but could not get up in the late stages. BALANCED BUDGET began slowly and failed to menace. DUSKY DEVIL raced evenly. LADY BUCK showed a flash of early speed. SPARKLING was done early. CANTERET was unable to unfrack herself. CANROCK was eased back on the first turn when crowded, raced in close pursuit after gaining stride, came to the outside and withstood a stout drive in the last eighth to get up right at the end. CASTABOUT was under strong pressure to set the pace, saved much ground all the way and fought it out stubbornly in the final test. MISS EPE improved her position slowly after being outrun, but could not reach the leaders. SALLY QUICK moved into a forward position on the final turn, then tired. WHITE SWEETS labored in the footing. DIXIE S. lost ground and could not enter a forward position. DESERT SANDS broke slowly. PIERRE ANDRE was done after going five-eighths. BRAVING DANGER lost ground on the turns while racing on the outside and could not improve his position. SUN SWEEP tired after making a stout bid ncaring the last turn. WELSH LAD, rated close up in the early running, overhauled SUN VOTER, but tired in the last eighth. ITHACAN outlasted tired horses. SUN VOTER opened up a long lead, but flattened out badly in the last half mile. VOODOOISM was far out of contention throughout. CHATTERESS was held safe. LADY GRANDACE floundered in the footing and lost her rider on. the final turn.
